Meet the Team Phil Hughes, Company Secretary

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.

It's the latest instalment of our blog series where we introduce you to the team members here at the WMMG. Last week we introduced Gem, this week it's our final team member, but fear not we're going to be continuing our team blog journeys with other topics!

So let's meet the team with Phil Hughes.

Meet the Team Phil Hughes!

How long have you worked at West Midlands Media Group?

I have been working with WMMG for 9 months! Which was the 2nd May 2023, although I've been working with Daniel for around the past 3 years also in the radio industry.

I am the Company Secretary here at the WMMG. My responsibilities primarily rely on being behind the scenes and making sure we're doing everything by the book and being fully compliant with rules and regulations in the UK.

What do you enjoy most about working at WMMG?

I enjoy the challenge of working at WMMG, not a day goes by where something is sprung upon me, where I need to research or act to resolve in perhaps a different way than usual. I also love all the brilliant and crazy ideas from the team and being part of implementing these ideas within the company.

Our team is a great group of people and I really enjoy working with them, especially learning Daniel's very own Dantionary.

What recent/future changes and development can we expect from your role?

Although my role is very much behind the scenes, I'm most looking forward to attending more gigs and working with our artists, to help them grow and succeed within the music industry. I also very much look forward to putting the music released by our artists through the WMMG a lot more in the public domain.

Provide 3 fun-facts about yourself Phil!

Now the interesting part, the three fun-facts about me, pretty easy to be honest;

  • In my spare time I enjoy driving, gaming, and programming! Yes, I am a nerd!

  • I have a pet hamster called Brooke and she's the dumbest thing I have ever known! See if you can spot Brooke in my photo.

  • I'm really bad at thinking of facts about myself.

That's the last blog for our team introductions, but we'll be back in May with Music Influencer blogs and you can discover all our teams favourite artists/bands and songs.
